At Avail Computer, we listen to your questions. No Frequently Asked Questions page can be fully comprehensive, but we strive to make sure that the questions we are most often asked get answered on the website. If you have a question that you think should be on our site, please let us know.
Q: How quickly can you be here? A: In most cases, within 24-48 hours. Our service level goes up to 4 hours in most cases if you sign a service agreement. Q: My system won't boot up. Should I run ScanDisk? A: DO NOT TRY TO FIX IT! The best way to keep your data is to unplug the machine, and call an expert. If there is a hardware fault, and you run ScanDisk, Disk Doctor, or most other tools, you run the risk of PERMANENT data loss! We can diagnose the problem accurately, and provide you with recommendations on how to proceed. It may be something as simple as a missing file, but a major hardware failure requires extensive work. In that event, we will refer you to our Partner, DigitalMedix, who has a 90% recovery rate. Q: What does MCSE stand for, and why is that important? A: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) is the preeminent certification for Microsoft sytems technicians. MCSEs are required to take a minimum of 10 separate tests to ascertain their knowlege and proficiency in dealing with Microsoft systems. The owner is an MCSE, as well as one of the other technicians. All of the technicians have achieved at least Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) status, which qualifies them to troubleshoot systems such as Windows XP, and Windows 2000. In addition, All of our technicians are A+ Certified, which tests the proficiency of the technician with the hardware aspect of systems. Q: Does Avail Computer work on home machines, or only business? A: Avail does work on single user, or home systems. Avail's primary focus however, is business systems. We are particularly focused on small businesses with less than 50 computers. Our forte is Accounting and Finance. Q: How do I get away from paying travel fees all the time? A: Sign up for a service contract. We have contracts for as little as 4 hours a month. All clients with service contracts get top priority, shorter response times, and no travel fees are assessed for office visits, or home visits within 30 miles of our location.
